The Tourismo is Mercedes-Benz's principal touring coach for the British market, combining long-distance comfort with flexible seating and proven heavy-duty diesel engineering. Four body configurations are available, ranging from the 12.3-metre standard model to the larger three-axle Tourismo L. Depending on specification, passenger capacity reaches 65 seats, although more spacious executive layouts and wheelchair-accessible versions are also offered. Comfortable reclining seating, generous luggage compartments, modern climate control and extensive safety technology make it suitable for private hire, holidays, scheduled services and school contracts. The Tourismo continues to attract new British orders, including 2026 deliveries with PSVAR-compliant wheelchair accommodation.

Mercedes-Benz Citaro K
The Citaro K is the shortest member of Mercedes-Benz's conventional city bus family, offering full-sized bus construction within a comparatively manageable 10.6-metre body. It is particularly well suited to smaller towns, narrow streets and routes where a standard 12-metre single-decker would be unnecessarily large. Despite its compact dimensions, the Citaro K can accommodate up to 86 passengers, including standing accommodation, with around 25 seats in a typical layout. A 7.7-litre diesel engine provides the power, with an optional mild-hybrid system recovering energy during braking to improve efficiency in urban operation.

Mercedes-Benz Citaro
The standard 12-metre Citaro is one of Europe's most familiar single-deck city buses, designed for intensive scheduled services and high passenger turnover. Its low-floor interior, wide passenger entrances and flexible seating arrangements provide straightforward wheelchair and pushchair access, while its proven diesel engine and automatic transmission make it suitable for demanding daily operation. Operators can specify mild-hybrid assistance, improved passenger information equipment and modern driver safety systems. The Citaro remains relevant to British operators, with four new examples entering service on Gatwick Airport shuttle routes in January 2026.

Mercedes-Benz Citaro LE
The Citaro LE combines the accessibility of a low-floor city bus with the more conventional raised-floor seating arrangement of an interurban vehicle. Its low-entry front section provides straightforward access for wheelchair users and passengers with pushchairs, while the raised rear floor allows a flexible seating arrangement suitable for longer journeys. This makes the LE particularly useful for regional services, suburban routes and journeys linking towns with surrounding rural communities. The same diesel engine family and optional mild-hybrid technology found in other Citaro models provide the mechanical foundations, alongside modern safety and passenger equipment.

Mercedes-Benz Citaro G
The Citaro G is the articulated member of Mercedes-Benz's diesel city bus family, designed for busy urban routes where conventional single-deckers cannot provide sufficient capacity. Measuring just over 18 metres long, it combines three axles with an articulated centre joint, allowing up to 163 passengers to travel in selected configurations. A continuous low-floor passenger area supports easy movement between sections, while three- or four-door layouts improve boarding and alighting at busy stops. Powerful six-cylinder diesel engines, automatic transmissions and an electronic articulation-control system make the Citaro G suitable for demanding scheduled operation. Mild-hybrid assistance is also available.

Important Information
Prices, specifications, dimensions, seating capacities, weights, power outputs and equipment are based primarily on information published by vehicle manufacturers, their official UK representatives and established suppliers. Specifications can vary by body length, chassis, drivetrain, configuration, model year and individual vehicle.
Prices shown are UK prices where available and are intended as a guide. Where an official UK list price is unavailable, pricing is shown as POA. Prices may vary substantially according to fleet order size, optional equipment, accessibility requirements and operator-specific configurations.
Vehicles are included on the basis of their appearance in the current Mercedes-Benz British product range, supported by UK delivery information where available. Individual body lengths, electric configurations and right-hand-drive versions may require confirmation with Daimler Buses UK before ordering. International model availability does not guarantee UK supply.
Passenger seating capacities must not be confused with total passenger capacities. Urban buses frequently accommodate standing passengers, while wheelchair positions, door arrangements and other interior features can reduce the number of seats. Capacities stated are manufacturer figures for representative configurations and may differ on vehicles approved for British use.
Licence categories shown are a general guide only. Individual driving entitlement can vary according to passenger-seat count, vehicle weight, vehicle length, licence issue date, grandfather rights, Section 19 operation and other exemptions. Passenger-seat counts used for licence purposes exclude the driver. Always check the vehicle's plated specification and your own driving-licence entitlement before driving.
Electric driving ranges are manufacturer claims based on specified bus operating conditions and are not directly comparable with passenger-car WLTP figures. Maximum battery capacities depend on the selected specification. Real-world driving range will vary with passenger load, route characteristics, temperature, heating, driving style and battery condition.
Specifications are checked against the latest information reasonably available to The New Yardstick at the time of publication or update. Manufacturers may alter specifications, pricing or model availability without notice.
