Maxus Guide
MAXUS belongs to SAIC, the Chinese automotive group that also owns MG, while its UK history has roots in the former LDV commercial-vehicle business. Its passenger-car range takes a different direction from its traditional van business, focusing on large electric MPVs designed around space, comfort and multiple seating rows.
The range also includes diesel and electric pick-ups, adding towing, off-road and commercial capability alongside the MIFA people carriers. A much larger range of diesel and electric vans sits alongside them, giving MAXUS one of the broadest commercial-focused line-ups among newer Chinese brands in the UK.
Current Models
MIFA 7 (24-)![]() Photo: Maxus / SAIC | RRP From: £50,885 |
The MIFA 7 gives families a proper people carrier at a time when most manufacturers would rather sell them an SUV. Sliding doors and separate second-row seats make loading people easier, especially in tight parking spaces. It suits buyers who regularly use all three rows, although luggage room behind the rearmost seats deserves a practical check before committing.
MIFA 9 (23-)![]() Photo: Maxus / SAIC | RRP From: £67,685 |
The MIFA 9 is the larger, more imposing Maxus people carrier, aimed at executive transport as well as big families. Its spacious cabin and available reclining second-row chairs put passenger comfort first. Seven- and eight-seat versions broaden its usefulness, but this is a substantial vehicle: check the driveway and usual parking spaces as carefully as the seating arrangement.
T60 MAX (25-)![]() Photo: Maxus / SAIC | RRP From: £41,994 Powertrains: Diesel |
The T60 MAX gives MAXUS a conventional diesel option in the UK pick-up market, combining a double-cab body with useful towing and payload capability. Its strongest appeal is value, particularly against better-known rivals that can become expensive once similarly equipped. The cabin is more passenger-car-like than older work-focused pickups, while the standard four-wheel-drive layout keeps it suitable for towing and rural use.
eTERRON 9 (25-)![]() Photo: Maxus / SAIC | RRP From: £63,600 Powertrains: EV Key rivals: Ford Ranger PHEV, Isuzu D-Max EV, KGM Musso EV, Toyota Hilux BEV, Volkswagen Amarok |
The eTERRON 9 is one of the few fully electric pickups currently available in the UK, combining a large battery with four-wheel drive and full 3,500 kg towing capability. It is significantly more expensive than the diesel T60 MAX, but brings stronger performance, quieter running and a useful front storage compartment. Its biggest compromise is payload, which is lower than most conventional diesel pickups.
