Genesis Guide

Genesis became a standalone luxury brand in 2015, developing a distinctive identity around elegant design, beautifully finished interiors and impressive refinement. Its cars typically favour calm, spacious cabins and a strong sense of occasion, while increasingly ambitious electric technology has helped move the brand beyond its Hyundai origins.

The range remains relatively small, but covers everything from the relatively compact GV60 to the substantial G80, with performance-focused Magma models adding another dimension. Genesis remains a relatively rare sight on British roads, but its combination of comfort, technology and distinctive styling gives the brand a character that feels increasingly well established.

Magma gives Genesis a dedicated performance flagship, with a wider, lower body, a prominent rear wing and a chassis developed for considerably more than straight-line acceleration. Its two motors deliver up to 641 bhp with Boost, enough for 0–62mph in 3.4 seconds. It retains five seats and a comfort-minded cabin rather than becoming a stripped-out track special.

The Electrified GV70 takes a more conventional SUV approach than the GV60, with a taller-looking body, a useful five-seat cabin and a larger boot. It combines strong dual-motor performance with a refined, quiet driving experience, while the well-finished interior and more traditional proportions make it an easy step into Genesis ownership for buyers wanting a premium electric family SUV.

The G80 is a genuinely substantial luxury saloon, with generous cabin space, a beautifully finished interior and the relaxed character expected of something this large. Its long body gives it real presence on the road, while impressive refinement, comfortable seating and a calm, carefully designed cabin make longer journeys feel particularly special for both driver and passengers.
