Fiat Van Guide

Fiat Professional has been a familiar name in the British commercial vehicle market for decades, producing everything from compact delivery vans to some of Europe's largest and most versatile panel vans.

Today's range combines competitive pricing, practical load areas and a choice of diesel or fully electric powertrains. From the compact Doblò to the spacious Ducato, Fiat offers vehicles for tradespeople, delivery operators and larger fleets. Shared engineering with other Stellantis brands brings modern technology and familiar mechanical components, while the Ducato remains particularly popular for specialist conversions and motorhomes.

The current Doblò represents a significant change from Fiat's previous compact van. Introduced in 2022, it adopted the Stellantis platform already used by the Citroën Berlingo and Peugeot Partner, bringing improved safety technology, a more modern interior and the option of electric propulsion.

Available in two body lengths, the Doblò offers up to 4.4 cubic metres of cargo capacity with its load-through bulkhead. Its compact exterior dimensions make it particularly useful around town, while sliding side doors, a practical load area and comfortable driving position suit tradespeople and delivery drivers alike.

The diesel range offers 100bhp manual and 130bhp automatic versions, while the fully electric E-Doblò provides a WLTP range of up to 213 miles. The electric model is also assembled at Stellantis' Ellesmere Port plant in Cheshire, giving it an interesting connection to British vehicle manufacturing. With familiar mechanical components and competitive pricing, the Doblò remains a sensible small-van choice.

Fiat revived the Scudo name in 2022, replacing the Renault Trafic-based Talento that had occupied the mid-sized van slot since 2016. This marked a return to the brand's long-standing partnership with Peugeot and Citroën, with the new Scudo sharing its underpinnings with the Dispatch, Expert and Vauxhall Vivaro. Two body lengths provide cargo capacities ranging from 5.3 to 6.6 cubic metres.

Diesel versions offer 120bhp or 150bhp outputs, with a more powerful 180bhp automatic available on selected configurations. Meanwhile, the electric E-Scudo offers a 75kWh battery and a WLTP range of up to approximately 230 miles, depending on specification.

For businesses needing more room than a compact van without committing to a full-size commercial vehicle, the Scudo offers an appealing middle ground.

The Ducato is Fiat Professional's largest panel van and one of the most established commercial vehicles in Europe. Available with a wide variety of body lengths, roof heights and weight ratings, it offers everything from a relatively compact low-roof delivery vehicle to an enormous 17-cubic-metre panel van.

Its exceptionally practical load area has long been one of its biggest selling points. Wide rear doors, a square cargo compartment and an internal load width of 1422mm between the wheel arches allow bulky goods to be carried with relatively little wasted space. It is also particularly popular with motorhome manufacturers, thanks to its front-wheel-drive layout and adaptable chassis.

The current diesel range uses Fiat's 2.2-litre MultiJet engines, with manual and automatic transmissions available depending on specification. Meanwhile, the fully electric E-Ducato offers a substantial 110kWh battery and up to 263 miles of WLTP range. Its powerful electric motor and generous cargo capacity make it an interesting option for businesses looking to replace large diesel delivery vehicles.

The Ducato is also available in heavier variants, including versions with a gross vehicle weight exceeding 3.5 tonnes. Buyers should check the plated weight carefully, as these models may require different driving licence entitlements and operating arrangements.

Remarkably, the Ducato's basic body design dates back to 2006, making it 20 years old in 2026. Yet regular updates to its engines, styling, safety technology and equipment have kept it competitive with much newer rivals. Its spacious and exceptionally well-proportioned load area remains one of the best in the business, proving that a fundamentally good commercial vehicle design can stand the test of time.
