Citroën Van Guide

Citroën has long been a major player in the UK commercial vehicle market, offering everything from tiny urban delivery vehicles to large panel vans capable of carrying substantial loads.

The current range combines competitive pricing, practical load spaces and a choice of diesel or electric powertrains. From the quirky Ami Commercial to the spacious Relay, Citroën caters for small businesses, delivery drivers, tradespeople and larger fleets alike. Shared engineering with other Stellantis brands also makes the range particularly versatile.

Citroën's smallest commercial offering takes the familiar Ami quadricycle and adapts it for light deliveries and local business use. The original single-seat Ami Cargo offered 400 litres of total storage, while the newer removable Cargo Kit allows the ordinary Ami to switch between carrying a passenger and carrying goods.

With a range of approximately 46 miles and a 28mph maximum speed, it is strictly an urban solution rather than a conventional delivery van. Nevertheless, its tiny dimensions, low running costs and ability to park almost anywhere make it an interesting alternative for small businesses operating over short distances.

The ë-C3 Van marks the return of the traditional car-derived van to Citroën's commercial range. Introduced in 2025, it takes the affordable ë-C3 electric supermini and replaces its rear seats with a practical load area, complete with a protective bulkhead and load cover. The result is a compact, comfortable delivery vehicle offering up to 1,220 litres of cargo space and a 300kg payload.

Its 44kWh battery provides a WLTP range of approximately 201 miles, while 100kW rapid charging allows a 20–80% recharge in around 26 minutes. Advanced Comfort suspension, a modern touchscreen and familiar car-like driving characteristics make it particularly appealing to businesses covering local delivery routes.

Perhaps most importantly, the ë-C3 Van revives a category once occupied by vehicles such as the Ford Fiesta Van and Vauxhall Corsavan. With the UK Government's electric van grant, the price falls below £20,000 including VAT, it offers a more affordable alternative to larger electric commercial vehicles. For businesses that don't require the carrying capacity of a Berlingo, this little Citroën could make considerable sense.

Two body lengths provide up to 4.4 cubic metres of cargo capacity when equipped with the EXTENSO load-through system, while a choice of diesel engines and the fully electric ë-Berlingo broadens its appeal.

The diesel range offers an economical 100bhp manual or a more powerful 130bhp automatic, while the electric version provides up to 213 miles of WLTP range. Sliding side doors, useful payload capacities and a comfortable cabin make the Berlingo an excellent all-round choice for tradespeople, small businesses and local delivery work.

The current UK panel van is available in M and XL lengths, with cargo volumes ranging from 5.3 to 6.6 cubic metres depending on configuration. The shorter XS version previously offered is no longer part of the current UK range.

Its relatively low roof makes it particularly convenient for multi-storey car parks and height-restricted areas, while diesel engines ranging from 120 to 180bhp provide plenty of flexibility. The ë-Dispatch electric version offers up to approximately 219 miles of WLTP range, making it a viable alternative for businesses with predictable daily routes and charging facilities.

The Relay is Citroën's largest conventional van, designed around maximum carrying capacity and versatility. The latest range offers six panel-van configurations, with cargo volumes stretching from 10 to an impressive 17 cubic metres. Its square load area, wide rear doors and substantial internal height make it particularly attractive to delivery operators, removal businesses and tradespeople carrying bulky equipment.

Diesel engines provide a choice of manual and automatic transmissions, while the fully electric ë-Relay offers a 110kWh battery and a quoted WLTP range of up to approximately 263 miles. Available in several weight categories, the Relay can also be adapted into chassis cabs, crew vans and specialist commercial conversions.

Remarkably, the Relay's basic body design dates back to 2006, making it 20 years old. Yet regular updates to its engines, styling, technology and equipment have kept it competitive with much newer rivals. Its enormous, well-proportioned load area remains one of the best in the business, proving that a fundamentally good commercial vehicle design can stand the test of time.
