Bentley Guide

Bentley was founded in 1919 by W.O. Bentley, establishing its reputation through engineering, endurance racing and success at Le Mans. Its later grand tourers combined effortless performance with carefully finished cabins, a character that remains central to the marque today.

The current UK range spans the Continental coupé and convertible, Flying Spur saloon and the Bentayga SUV. The Bentayga has become Bentley’s biggest seller and now accounts for the largest share of its global volume. V8 plug-in hybrid power underpins the Continental and Flying Spur ranges, while the Bentayga offers petrol and plug-in hybrid choices. A smaller electric SUV is also due to join the line-up soon, marking an important next step in Bentley’s move towards electrification.

The Continental GT combines long-distance comfort with huge performance in a large two-door grand tourer. Its cabin is beautifully finished and highly configurable, while the rear seats and 260-litre boot are better suited to occasional use than family duties. Buyers needing substantially more passenger and luggage space are better served by the closely related Flying Spur, while the GT keeps the emphasis firmly on style, refinement and two-door grand touring.

The Continental GTC brings the same performance, refinement and craftsmanship as the GT, but adds the ability to cruise with the roof down. The Flying Spur combines Bentley’s traditional luxury-saloon character with the latest plug-in hybrid powertrain. It offers substantially more rear-seat and luggage space than the Continental GT, while retaining the same focus on refinement, effortless performance and craftsmanship. The used market is already showing some notably strong-value examples, potentially opening Bentley ownership to buyers far below the £200,000 new-car price point.

The Bentayga is Bentley’s biggest-selling model, combining the brand’s luxury focus with the practicality of a large SUV. It shares underlying architecture with the Porsche Cayenne and Audi Q8, but uses its own styling, cabin treatment and chassis tuning. Today’s range centres on V8 petrol and plug-in hybrid powertrains, replacing the old W12 models. Buyers can also choose the longer-wheelbase Bentayga EWB, which adds extra rear-seat space and a stronger chauffeur-led character.
