Aston Martin Guide

Aston Martin is a British luxury manufacturer founded in 1913, best known for elegant sports cars and grand tourers. Its road-car business combines the long-established Gaydon operation with SUV production at St Athan in Wales, supported by specialist UK retailers.

The current range stretches from the two-seat Vantage to the more practical DBX, with the DB12 and V12 Vanquish occupying grand-touring territory. Valhalla adds a limited-production hybrid supercar. Personalisation is a significant part of the ownership proposition, so individual cars can cost considerably more than a basic list price. Convertible and S derivatives are grouped with their main model families here.

The Vantage is the compact, two-seat sports car of the Aston Martin family, with muscular styling and a more focused character than the larger grand tourers. The extensively updated car has a much more modern cabin than early examples. Roadster and sharper S versions broaden the choice, but the central appeal remains a front-engined V8 and rear-wheel drive.

DB12 (23-)

RRP From: £196,745
Pre Reg From: N/A
Used Price From: c. £138,000

Powertrains: 4.0 twin-turbo V8 • 671 bhp • RWD • 8-speed automatic • 2+2 seats
Dimensions: 4725 × 1980 × 1295 mm
Boot: 262L

Key rivals: Bentley Continental GT, Denza Z, Ferrari Amalfi, Maserati GranTurismo, Mercedes-AMG GT

The DB12 is Aston Martin’s elegant middle ground between sports car and long-distance grand tourer. Its cabin is a substantial step forward from the DB11, while the small rear seats provide occasional flexibility. Coupé, open-top Volante and more assertive S versions are grouped here. It suits buyers who want a special journey without choosing the most extreme Aston.

Valhalla (25-)

RRP From: £850,000
Pre Reg From: N/A
Used Price From: N/A
Powertrains: 4.0 twin-turbo V8 PHEV • 1,064 bhp • AWD • 8-speed DCT • two seats
Dimensions: 4748 × 2014 × 1161 mm
Boot: N/A

Key rivals: Ferrari 849 Testarossa, Ferrari F80, Lamborghini Revuelto, McLaren W1, Mercedes-AMG ONE

Valhalla moves Aston Martin into mid-engined hybrid-supercar territory, with a carbon-fibre structure and an emphasis on aerodynamic performance. It is a very different proposition from the brand’s front-engined grand tourers, aimed at collectors and committed enthusiasts. Production is limited, so a UK retailer’s ability to supply an allocation matters more than an ordinary showroom stock search.

Vanquish (24-)
Vanquish

RRP From: £335,545
Pre Reg From: N/A
Used Price From: c. £270,000

Powertrains: 5.2 twin-turbo V12 • 824 bhp • RWD • 8-speed automatic • two seats
Dimensions: 4855 × 1980 × 1290 mm
Boot: 248L

Key rivals: Ferrari 12Cilindri, Lamborghini Temerario, Maserati MCPURA, McLaren GTS,  Mercedes-AMG GT 63 S E Performance

The Vanquish is the big V12 statement in Aston Martin’s regular range. It combines a long, dramatic body with a two-seat cabin and a grand-touring brief, rather than trying to imitate a compact mid-engined supercar. The Volante adds open-air theatre. It is aimed at buyers who value the engine, craftsmanship and sense of occasion as much as outright pace.

DBX (20-)
DBX

Photo: Aston Martin

RRP From: £210,745
Pre Reg From: N/A
Used Price From: c. £70,000

Powertrains: 4.0 twin-turbo V8 • 697 bhp • AWD • 9-speed automatic • five seats
Dimensions: 5039 × 1998 × 1680 mm
Boot: 632L

Key rivals: Bentley Bentayga, BMW XM Label Red, Ferrari Purosangue, Lamborghini Urus, Maserati Grecale Trofeo

The DBX gives Aston Martin buyers a genuinely useful family car, with five seats and a generous luggage area. The current 707 and S versions add formidable performance, while the revised cabin makes everyday use easier. Early used V8 models offer a much lower entry price. It suits owners who want the Aston character without giving up rear-seat space.
